With one of the mildest Canadian climates and an abundance of enthusiastic and welcoming people, the District offers a cohesive community of practice with richness and diversity. Located at the mid-point of the east coast of Vancouver Island, the District includes Campbell River, Oyster River, Gold River, Quadra Island, Cortes Island, and Sayward.
Life in the region is described by most as a “lifestyle choice.” It hosts unparalleled natural beauty, community amenities to support multiple personal and professional interests, cultural treasures and experiences, multilingual education opportunities, fine dining, and boutique shopping. The area is ideally positioned for growth and accessibility with daily scheduled ground, water and air transportation services available.
With a longstanding history of collegiality among family practitioners who are passionate about their patients and the status of health care, the way has been paved for new physicians to develop and be well supported in a new or existing practice. We encourage and welcome new physicians and locums to come and explore!
With a multitude of professional, personal, educational, recreational and cultural options it would be difficult to paint the picture in a few sentences. It is true though, ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon. Or scuba dive to wrecks in the day and enjoy the live theatre in the evening. Hiking, jogging, bike trails abound and all skills levels will find their chosen path.
Many of you will have families … the School District #72 provides comprehensive information on multilingual educational facilities. Indoor and outdoor solo and team recreational programs are available for all ages and skill levels. Public and private facilities are generous supporters of the wellbeing of the district.
And whether you are flying to Vancouver, locales across Canada and the US or off to an international destination, the Campbell River Airport is sure to serve your needs. With easy access, plenty of parking and accommodating staff, you will be on your way.
BC Ferries provides ferry service between Campbell River and the smaller islands or should you be headed to the mainland, 2 ferry terminals will transport you to Vancouver and the next leg of your journey.
